Welcome  to The British Section Association!

Stop press! OPEN DAY: Saturday 27th February 2016 from 09h00 - 13h00.

This site aims to present the Parents' Association of the British Section of Cite Scolaire College and Lycee Grand Air in La Baule in the west of France. You'll find activities and events of our association. There is news, updates and reports on school activities, trips, theatre, events ...

We pride ourselves on being a friendly and open British Section, that offers a high quality education for our students, who come from many countries including the UK, USA, and further afield.  The school is wonderfully located in the seaside town of La Baule, just 10 minutes walk from one of France's most beautiful bays, and ideally positioned with easy access by train from Nantes or Paris.  Grand Air also offers boarding from 3eme onwards.

In the British Section the students follow a British based academic programme of study and develop essential skills in English language and literature, taught by either native or fluent teachers, and are able to work independently and through participation with others. There is an emphasis on British culture, using a rich range of educational resources, and we believe that this helps to develop lively and enquiring minds and teaches our students important life skills.  Students work towards the Brevet, plus the Cambridge CAE exam then the BAC OIB in Lycee. Many of our students go on to British Universities.

On joining the school either in college at 6eme or in the Lycee, children quickly become part of the warm atmosphere of the British Section.   Parent volunteers have a vital role in the development of the children and we actively encourage involvement in the activties and events that are enjoyed throughout the year.  We value and build on the experience and knowledge which pupils bring from their various backgrounds, and seek to boost their confidence and to support them on their journey from 6eme to Terminale, with the aim to make that journey both happy and successful.
