Summer School 2019 - One small step for the 6th grade, one giant leap for the middle schooler.

25 children entering 6th grade this year participated in the 2019 Summer School.

This two-day event is held annually on the college's premises at the end of August and run by the association.

    The event has multiple objectives:

First of all, to allow the students to meet each other.

Next, to familiarise themselves with their new environment.

Then to slowly start their immersion in the English language (all activities and conversations are in English).

Finally, to encourage the creation of a sense of community (via games), the fostering of self-expression and writing in English (song, sketch creation): all with a healthy dose of fun, high energy and creativity.

This year's theme revolved around the fiftieth anniversary of man's first step on the moon (24th July 1969), an event symbolic of adventure and challenge. The children sang "Walking on The Moon" (The Police), "Ob la di, ob-la-da" (The Beatles) a lively contemporary song and performed their own sketches of their version of future new steps for men (and women!) on the moon.

Staying close to British traditions, the association organised a typical British meal: Fish and Chips and then sandwiches the following day as is common of British students’ packed lunches.

A mini show concluded this summer school and highlighted the fruits of the two-day session’s work to the children’s parents.
